PURPOSE: To increase adhesion of an active mass to an electrode plate by applying the mixture obtained by mixing powder or particle zinc, short fibers, and a binder on a punched metal substrate, and press-fixing zinc active mass on its outside.

CONSTITUTION: Both sides of a nickel plated iron punched metal substrate 1 are coated with the mixture formed by mixing powder or particle zinc, short fibers, and a binder such as PVA, CMC, and dried to form a mixture layer 2. A zinc active mass layer 3 is fixed by applying pressure with a press on the outside of the mixture layer 2 to form the electrode plate for a storage battery. This electrode plate has many advantages such as no falling off of zinc active mass, long life, and low cost.
