Abstract:
The assembly includes an electrode (a) to which a porous coating (a1) is bonded; and pressure is applied to electrode (a) so it is forced against a second electrode (b) to reinforce or complete the cladding of electrode (a) with its coating (a1). In one pref. assembly, electrode (b) consists of or contains an alkali metal, esp. Li; and a helical or spiral spring is used to create the pressure. One pref. cell contains a lithium anode (b); a porous separator; a non-aq. electrolyte; and a cathode (a) formed by a layer (a1) of LixMoS2. The spring pref. exerts a force of 3.45-34.5 bars continuously during the charging and recharging of a sec. cell. Improved reversibility of the Li during repeated charging and discharging.
