PURPOSE: To easily constitute an electrode exhibiting an excellent current distribution over the entire part of its surface by electrically connecting a low- conductive nonmetallic material structural body and a structural body of a relatively highly conductive material apart therefrom by a solid low melting conductive metal.
CONSTITUTION: The electrode in a tubular, planar or other form is obtd. by electrically connecting the first structural body of the low-conductive nonmetallic material and the second structural body consisting of the relatively highly conductive material arranged apart therefrom by the solid low melting conductive metal or alloy arranged therebetween. Magnetite, ferrite, titanium oxide, such as TiOx (x is smaller than 2, more preferably 1.67 to 1.9), etc., are used as the first structural body. The second structural body is adequately, Cu, Fe, Ni, Ti, etc. The conductive metal is preferably Bi-contg. alloys, such as Bi/Sn, Bi/Pb and Bi/Pb/Sn/Cd. The current distribution excellent over the entire part of the surface is obtainable with this electrode at the time of use. The electrode is adequate as the anode for cathodic protection of the metallic structural bodies, such as underground embedded pipes.
