PURPOSE: To obtain an electrode having corrosion resistance, toughness and conductivity, by coating a copper material with titanium and further coating the titanium layer with platinum and bringing the interface of both layers to a metal bonding state.

CONSTITUTION: The outer surface of a copper core body 1 is coated with a titanium material 2 and the titanium material 2 being applied is further covered with a platinum foil 3. The interface of the copper core body 1 and the titanium material 2 applied and that of the titanium material 2 and the platinum foil 3 are united by the diffusion mixing of the componential atoms. By this method, an electrode excellent in electric conductivity, corrosion resistance and toughness and easy to handle is obtained.
