This electrodeless discharge lamp 1 has a pole resonator 12 with an arc tube 3 at its edge, and a reflector 2 which has an opening through which the resonator 12 is inserted and reflects discharge light emission from the arc tube 3 and irradiates it to the outside. It provides a convex lens 3 in front of where the arc tube 3 discharges and emits light, and collects discharge light emission reflected by the reflector 2 in parallel with a light axis of the convex lens 4 if the reflector is a paraboloidal surface, and at the focal point of an ellipsoidal surface if the reflector 2 is an ellipsoidal surface.
