Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enhance lamp efficiency.
CONSTITUTION: An electrodeless discharge lamp has a luminescent tube 1 with photo-transmitting property, in which discharge gas is sealed, an outer tube 2 arranged in surroundings of the luminescent tube 1 so as to ensure a sealed space, coated with an infrared ray reflecting film 2a, with photo-transmitting property, and an induction coil 3 wound around the outer tube 2, and exciting the discharge gas within the luminescent tube 1 for emission by acting a high frequency electromagnetic field from the outside of the outer tube 2. An infrared ray reflecting surface 2b which reflects an infrared ray emitted from a luminescent tube end 1a facing the end of the outer tube 2 to the the luminescent tube end 1a is formed at the end of at least one of the induction coil 3 and the outer tube 2 in the vertical direction to warm the luminescent tube end 1a which is a low temperature area.
