To provide an electrodeposition coater by which the electrodepositing condition is easily optimized in accordance with the kind of a material to be coated and the coating cost is reduced.
This coater consists of an electrodeposition tank 3 contg. the electrodeposition soln. 2 contg. coating material, a conveyor 4 for conveying a material 81 to be coated and the plural electrodes 5 arranged in the tank 3 in the advancing direction of the material 81. A current is applied between the material 81 and electrode 5 through the soln. 2 to form a coating film on the surface of the material 81. Plural movable shielding plates 6 each consisting of an insulating material for successively opening or closing an electric path between the material 81 and electrode 5 as the material 81 is traveled are fitted on the front of the electrode 5.
