PURPOSE: To coat an aluminum (alloy), etc., with a coating film having excellent weather resistance, corrosion resistance, etc., by carrying out electrodeposition coating using a material composed of a fluorine-containing water-based resin having a specific anionic functional group, a hardener and water.
CONSTITUTION: Electrodeposition coating is carried out by using a composition composed mainly of (A) a water-based resin consisting of a fluorine-containing copolymer composed of (i) 20W80mol% unit of formula I (X is Cl or F), (ii) 5W60% unit of formula II [R1 is 2W6C alkylene or 4W10C bivalent alicyclic group; M is H, alkali metal, NHR2 (R2 is H, 1W6C alkyl, etc.), etc.; n is 2W6], (iii) 0W40mol% unit of formula III (R5 is 1W12C alkyl, 4W10C univalent alicyclic group or 2W10C fluoroalkyl; k is 0 or 1) and (iv) 0W40mol% unit of formula IV (j is 2W6), (B) a hardener and (C) water.
