Abstract:

To provide an electrolyte film with excellent thermal stability in shape and proton conductivity due to uniform introduction of proton conductive groups, as well as a direct methanol solid polymer fuel cell obtained by using the same.

The electrolyte film with proton conductive groups introduced in graft chains existing inside a fluorine polymer base material has a thermal deformation temperature of 300°C at the time of 50% of a thickness maintening rate as to changes of the thickness as measured in conditions of 1 mm of a probe diameter, a load of 70 g, and a temperature-rising velocity from room temperature of 2°C/min., with the use of a needle-probe thermal mechanical analyzer.
