To provide a lithium electrolyte battery with high capacity by its electrolyte containing a cyclic carbonate compound containing ethylenecarbonate; two or more linear carbonate compounds selected from a group of diethylecarbonate, ethylmethylcarbonate and diethylcarbonate; propylacetate; and lithium salt.
This electrolyte preferably contains 20-60 volume % of cyclic carbonate, 2.5-30 volume % of propylacetate and 30-77.5 volume % of a linear carbonate compound. Lithium salt is a compound selected from a group of hexafluorophosphate, lithium-tetrafluoroborate, lithium-hexafluoroarsenate, lithium-perchlorate and lithium-trifluoromethansulfonate, and the concentration of the lithium salt is 0.5-2.0 M. Especially, if an active material of LiNi1-xCOxMg2 is used, a battery excellent in capacity, life and low temperature characteristics is obtained.
