To provide a high conductivity and make the high temp. life characteristic good by using a solvent contg. water as a main component and adding a chelating agent.
An electrolyte soln.-impregnated capacitor element is set in a closed bottom cylindrical Al armor case, a butyl rubber seal is inserted in the opening end of this case, and the end of the armor case is formed by drawing to seal an electrolytic capacitor. A chelating agent is added to a solvent contg. water as a main component in the electrolyte soln. used here, thereby raising the water content up to 100 wt.% in the solvent to obtain a high conductivity of the electrolyte. This also prevents the capacitor case from bulging or opening valve. The electrolyte soln. uses a solvent contg. water as a main component and hence no trouble such as fire happens in the event of capacitor failures because of using a high voltage out of rating, etc.
