Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make it possible to apply electrolytic discharge polishing to a hard cutting material in high preciseness and high efficiency, by moving a flexible strip material while a pulse current is applied between the flexible strip material having a conductive polishing material attached to the surface thereof and an object to be processed. CONSTITUTION:Treatment as a polishing body and treatment as a conductor are simultaneously carried out with respect to the surface of a flexible strip material 2 such as a film or a sheet to form a conductive polishing strip 3. On the other hand, the polishing strip 3 of a discharge tape 1 is contacted with the processing surface of an object to be processed and each electrodes are connected to both of them to apply a pulse current thereto while the tape 1 is simultaneously moved. By this method, when a current is not supplied, the processing surface is mechanically polished by the polishing strip 3 while, when a current is supplied, electric discharge is generated to advance melting on the processing surface and, by repeating these operations within a short time, polishing is applied in good efficiency. In this case, as the object to be processed, a hard cutting material comprising a hard metal or a non-metal material can be used.
