Title:
ELECTROLYZING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS57134582
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide an electrolyzing device for sea water which can prevent sticking and solidifying of Mg(OH)2, etc. which are by-products in electrolysis by so constituting the same that always high velocity of flow is provided to fluid in the inside of an electrolytic cell by a flow turning plate provided in the direction at right angles to the axis of the electrolytic cell. CONSTITUTION:The fluid (sea water or salt water) flowing 2 into an electrolytic cell 1 is carried to a required place through an outlet pipe 3 by accompanying the ions produced in anodes 6. For example, in an iron ion generator, the Fe<+2> generaed in the cell 1 is carried to a condenser pipe, and is used for the purpose of corrosion prevention. More specifically, when DC potential is applied between electrodes 6, 7, the electrodes 6 constituted of a material to be ionized (for example, iron) are ionized and are dissolved into sea water. Here, if a flow turning plate 10 is placed in the direction at right angles to the axis direction of the cell 1, the greater part of the sea water is curved and turned in the diametral direction by this plate 10. Since stagnation is eliminated by the generation of the turning flow in the cell 1 by the effect of the plate 10, materials such as Mg(OH)3 vulnerable to settling and solidifying are carried in the flow and are discharged quickly, whereby their sticking is prevented.
