Abstract:

To apply an electromagnetic damper using electromagnetic force as damping force without using oil to an electromagnetic damper for a vehicle.

An axle side tube 2 having a lower suspension spring seat 6 provided on an outer circumference is slidably fitted inside or outside a vehicle body side tube 1. A motor M is connected to the inside or the outside of the vehicle body side tube 1. A ball screw nut 3 moving as one body with the axle side tube 2 is provided in the axle side tube 2. A screw shaft 4 combined with a motor shaft MS directly or via a power transmission means or a screw shaft 4 continuously provided to the motor shaft MS as one body is rotatably and threadedly fitted in the ball screw nut 3. Linear motion of the boll screw nut 3 is converted to rotational motion of the screw shaft 4. The rotational motion is transmitted to the motor shaft MS to make the motor generate electromagnet force. Torque resisting rotation of the motor shaft MS due to the electromagnetic force is used as damping force controlling linear motion of the axle side tube 2.
