Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve control characteristics and productivity of an electromagnetic driver for driving a movable body, e.g. a linear motor for carrying an optical head in an optical disc unit, with electromagnetic force.
CONSTITUTION: An opposing yoke 9 is inserted through a predetermined gap into the air core part of a linear motor coil 6 secured to a carriage 5. A conductor 13 is wound around the opposing yoke 9 and then electrically short-circuited. Consequently, inductance of the linear motor coil 6 decreases and the current flowing through the linear motor coil 6 can rise quickly upon application of a voltage.
