PURPOSE: To develop an electromagnetic induction stirring apparatus easy to construct and repair a furnace, by attaching an electromagnetic induction stirring coil to the periphery of a crucible having a molten cast iron outflow port as an apparatus for adding a desulfurization agent and additives to molten cast iron and mixing the whole under stirring.

CONSTITUTION: As a stirring apparatus for mixing a desulfurization agent such as CaC2 with molten cast iron with high S-content tapping from a cupola and applying desulfurization treatment to said molten cast iron under stirring, an electromagnetic induction stirring apparatus is used. The emitting port 15 of molten cast iron is provided to the upper part of said apparatus and the crucible 1 connected to the bottom part thereof by a communication passage 2 is made of a refractory substance 3. The molten cast iron 7 and a desulfurization agent 8 are added to said crucible 1 and mixed therein while AC is flowed to the electromagnetic induction stirring coil 5 in the outside to stir the molten cast iron in the crucible 1 and, at the same time, to heat the same and the molten cast iron is reacted with the desulfurization agent to be flowed out as desulfurized cast iron from the emitting port 15. In this case, the electromagnetic induction stirring coil 5 is arranged so as to be kept away from the molten iron tapping, hole 15 to prevent such a phenomenon that the molten iron communication passage 2 is cooled by the cooling water of the coil 5 and the temp. of molten iron is lowered and an electromagnetic induction stirring furnace easy to construct newly and repair is developed.
