To provide an electromagnetic pump for molten metal which can dispense with a heater wire for heating a pump side duct 1, thereby allowing the diameter of the pump including an inductor to be reduced.

The electromagnetic pump for the molten metal is provided in which a cylindrical pump side duct 1 passing through the molten metal 12 is connected with a cylindrical molten metal feed side duct 1', the outer circumference of the pump side duct 1 has the inductor 5 generating a moving magnetic field inside the duct 1, and a core 2 composed of a magnetic substance and forming a magnetic path for the moving magnetic field generated by the inductor 5 is arranged inside the pump side duct 1, wherein the coil 7 of the inductor 5 disposed around the pump side duct 1 and generating the moving magnetic field inside the duct 1 is a self-heat generation type heater serving also as a heater for the duct 1. In the electromagnetic pump for the molten metal, when the molten metal 12 is not pumped up, downward output reverse to that upon the pumping-up of the molten metal 12 or molten metal feed has been applied to the coil 7 of the inductor 5.
