To prevent operational errors for water leak and to adopt measures at a low cost, by providing an exciting coil in a case having liquid tightness, connecting an electrode portion to each of both coil terminals of this exciting coil, and exposing at least part of each electrode portion to liquid penetratable region out of a case.
Even if an electromagnetic relay 1 having electrode portions 7 is dipped by, for example, rain water or sea water, a gap between the electrode portions 7, 7 functions as resistances connected to an exciting coil in parallel, and the resistances generated by these electrode portions 7, 7 can prevent the exciting coil from operating by working voltage. As a result, occurrence of trouble that a motor operates even without switch operation can be prevented surely, and the reliability of the electromagnetic relay 1 as a component for vehicle can be improved.
