To provide an electromagnetic relay that avoids fixation of foreign matter to thereby maintain stable opening/closing operation of an electrical contact even if the foreign matter enters between a contact face of a permanent magnet and a contact part of an armature.

The electromagnetic relay includes: an insulator base 14 provided with a fixed-contact terminal 11 having a fixed contact 10a; a coil assembly 28 mounted on the insulator base 14 and having a U-shaped iron core 6 wound with a coil 16 and a permanent magnet 29; and an armature assembly 17 including a movable-contact spring 3 having an armature 4, which is mounted on the coil assembly 28 with its central part linearly brought into contact with one face of the permanent magnet 29 and performs see-saw operation by conduction control of a current supplied to the coil 16 with a contact part 4a as a fulcrum, and movable contact pairs 1a, 1b, 1c, and 1d fixed to the armature 4 so as to respectively contact/separate with/from the fixed contacts 10a, 10b, 10c, and 10d due to the see-saw operation. Each groove 29b is formed in a contact face 29a contacting with the armature 4 of the permanent magnet 29.
