PURPOSE: To enhance the electromagnetic shielding effect of the surface of a CRT face plate without causing thickening of a transparent electroconductive film, which is attached to the surface of the CRT face plate.

CONSTITUTION: A metal foil tape 6 is affixed in a scope till an anti-explosion band 5 from the peripheral part of a transparent electroconductive film 4, which is attached to the surface of a CRT 1 face plate, and this band 5 is grounded. When in this condition the resistance value between two arbitrary points on the face plate surface is measured, it gives the resistance value between each metal foil tape 6 and measuring point accordingly. This lessens the resistance value of the face plate surface compared with the case in which no metal foil tape 6 is attached (where the resistance value of the whole surface will be measured), which should increase the electroconductivity and enhance the electromagnetic shielding effect.
