Title:
ELECTROMAGNETIC STIRRING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6114052
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a casting body which contains less non-metallic inclusions and has a good surface by making the terminals of shifting magnetic fields of electromagnetic stirrers shorter than the terminals of a casting mold.

CONSTITUTION: Stirring force is generated by the shifting magnetic field 2 and a molten steel 4 is fluidized by said force when electric current is passed to the electromagnetic stirrers 2. Since the terminals of the stirrers 2 are constituted shorter than the terminals in the long side direction of the mold 1, the magnetic flux density decreases exponential-functionally at the terminals and the magnetic flux at the corners 5 where the molten steel 4 changes the direction of the flow is smaller than the magnetic flux at other points. The flow rate of the molten steel is thus decreased and therefore the waving thereof is decreased.
