To provide an electromagnetic suspension which is easily applicable to a vehicle.

A flat plate type mover 3 which extends axially is provided in a casing 2. The mover 3 includes permanent magnets 5 provided on both surfaces of a yoke 4. An armature 7 has a plurality of magnetic poles 8 fixed to the casing 2 and located across the mover 3 in a thickness direction. Each magnetic pole 8 is wound with a coil 9. The mover 3 is allowed by support members 11, 12 composed of roller bearings to move relatively to the armature 7. A rod 13 is fitted to an axial end of the mover 3 through a rotary mechanism 16. The rod 13 penetrates a rod guide 14 fixed to the casing 2 to protrude to outside the casing 2.
