To provide an electromagnetic switch which does not require a large force for fixing in close contact a stopper member to a switch case, and in which a region which receives a surface pressure and is deteriorated by the changes with the passage of time is reduced, and further, a difficult groove processing of the stopper member is not required or the like.

The electromagnetic switch is provided with a switch case 1, an excitation coil 7, a fixed iron core 2, a rod 3, a movable iron core 4, a spring 5, a stopper member 15, a buffer member 18, and a washer 19. The buffer member 18 is housed in a recess 17 of the stopper member 15 and has a pillar portion 20 of which one end face is in contact with the switch case 1 at the outside in diameter direction of the movable iron core 4 and the other end face is in contact with the bottom face of the recess 17.
