To provide an electromagnetic wave absorber exhibiting a high peak value of electromagnetic wave absorption and a small shift of the frequency at which the absorption attains a peak value according to the polarization direction of the electromagnetic wave.
A conductive pattern 12 has a contour of a substantial polygon that is basically a polygon and is capable of boosting up the peak value of the electromagnetic wave absorption as compared to the case with a circular contour of a conductive pattern. In this manner, the conductive pattern is basically formed to be a polygon with at least one of corners formed curvilinear, thereby minimizing the shift of the frequency at which the absorption attains a peak value according to the polarization direction of the electromagnetic wave. Thus, it is possible to obtain an electromagnetic absorber having an excellent electromagnetic wave absorption characteristic exhibiting a high peak value of electromagnetic wave absorption and a small shift of a frequency at which the absorption attains a peak value according to a polarization direction of the electromagnetic wave.
