Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for quickly and accurately measuring polarization azimuth of an electromagnetic wave.SOLUTION: An electromagnetic wave polarization azimuth measurement device comprises: at least one electromagnetic wave output part for outputting an electromagnetic wave; a crystal having optical anisotropy; a pump light optical system for modulating pump light outputted from the electromagnetic wave output part with frequency f via a modulation device for modulating a refraction index, for generating the electromagnetic wave; a probe light optical system for synchronizing probe light outputted from the electromagnetic wave output part with pump light radiation to the crystal having optical anisotropy by the pump light optical system, in which the probe light enters the crystal having optical anisotropy; a detection optical system for modulating the probe light transmitted through the crystal having optical anisotropy, via the modulation device for modulating the refraction index with an electric signal, with frequency F, then dividing the probe light into polarization of orthogonal two components, and then detecting strength difference between the polarization of the orthogonal two components; and a calculation device for calculating polarization azimuth of the electromagnetic wave, based on F±f vibration component and 2F±f vibration component of the signal detected by the detection optical system.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
