Abstract:
PURPOSE: To modulate an electron beam, which is emitted from a field emission cold cathode electrode, in the lateral direction. CONSTITUTION: An electron beam device is provided with a cold cathode 1, a modulating means 2 and an anode 3. A component of the device has a longitudinal shape, and the electron beam emitted from the cathode 1 is modulated in the lateral direction by the microwave signal transmitted along a modulator waveguide unit structure 2. The modulated output can be transmitted along the slender anode 3 or it can be transmitted through an anode board 5 and connected to an antenna or directly connected to other circuit element.
