Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a cooling structure for an electron beam tube, where an electron gun is surrounded with an input resonance cavity to which a high-frequency energy is impressed. CONSTITUTION: This electron beam tube similar to an IOT includes an input cavity 6 surrounding an electron gun 1. A cylindrical dielectric member 15, arranged between end plates facing sideways of the cavity 6, has plural holes 17 in its peripheral edge. A coolant fluid like air is introduced from an entrance port 24 into the cavity 6 to cool the inside of the cavity and the outside surface of a vacuum vessel wall 18. Air flows on the outside surface of the cavity 6 in the lengthwise direction and flows into the cavity 6 through holes demarcated by spring fingers 21 and holes 17. Thermal stress in a device are reduced by this cooling, and consequently, mechanical integrity is improved.
