Abstract:
To provide an electron emission device having an excellent electron emission efficiency.
In an electron emission device which comprises an electron feeding layer 12 consisting of a metal or a semiconductor, an insulating material layer 13 formed on the electron feeding layer 12, and a metallic thin film electrode 15 formed on the insulating material layer 13 to face a vacuum space, and which emits electrons by applying an electric field between the electron feeding layer 12 and the thin time electrode 15, the insulating material layer 13 has a film thickness of 50 nm or more obtained by oxidizing or nitriding the electron feeding layer 12.
