To provide an electron emission device capable of stably driving for a long period, an electrifying device using the emission device and its charging method.
An electron emission device 10 has a semiconductor layer 4 formed between a first and a second electrodes 6, 2, and includes an electron emission element 11 of which at least a part of the surface of the layer 4 at the first electrode 6 side is made porous layer 5. The electrifying device 1 uses the emission device 10 having a power supply 20 alternately impressing a positive voltage enabling to emit electron, and a negative voltage having an reverse polarity of the positive voltage. The electrifying method alternately impresses positive and negative voltages on the first electrode 6 of the emission device 10.
