To provide an electronic emission element which has a structure suitable for mounting without causing the functional deterioration of the electronic emission element and achieves stable electronic emission for a long continuous time period in the electronic emission element having a fine particle layer.
An electronic emission element 9 has an electron acceleration layer 4 including insulative fine particles 4a between a first electrode 1 and a second electrode 6. An extraction electrode 7 is provided at the second electrode 6, and a metal pad 8 is bonded to the extraction electrode 7. A current blocking insulation film 2 is provided at a region on the first electrode 1, which the extraction electrode 7 and the metal pad 8 bonded on the extraction electrode 7 are projected in a normal direction of a surface of the first electrode 1 using the surface of the first electrode 1 as a projection surface, for blocking the current flow in the region.
