Abstract:
To provide an electron emission element with a small electron beam diameter, and provide an image forming device for high-quality and fine images by using such the electron emission element, and an electron source.
A cathode electrode 2 has an opening by digging a part of the cathode electrode 2, and a depth of a dig of the opening is deep in a peripheral edge part of a bottom surface of the opening, and shallow in a center part of the bottom surface of the opening. A surface of an electron emission material 5 is formed in a deeper part than a boundary surface of the cathode electrode 2 and an insulating layer 3.
