Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron emitting element capable of favorably halting electron emission, a method and a device for driving an electron source and an image forming device, an electron source, and an image forming device.
SOLUTION: In a driving state making the electron emitting elements emit electrons, the electron emitting elements are controlled to emit the electrons by setting (Vg-Vc) to be positive, while in a halted state making them not emit electrons, the elements are controlled to bring the emission to a halt by setting (Vg-Vc) to be negative, and the halt state electric field formed between a cathode electrode and an anode electrode in the halt state is inverted to the electric field in the driving state; the electric field strength across the anode electrode is easily reduced and the electron emission is effectively suppressed.
