Title:
ELECTRON GUN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3423111
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To realize an electron gun wherein a large current is obtained further with a long life, in the indirectly heated electron gun which emits a thermal electron with a cathode heated by irradiation of an electron beam emitted from an auxiliary electron gun.
CONSTITUTION: In this constitution, an LaB6 single crystal provided with a step difference for preventing coming off is used in a cathode 1, to coat a total surface except an electron emitting surface of the LaB6 cathode 1 with a burned unit or sintered unit mainly composed of B4C. Here is burned or sintered the burned unit or the sintered unit by compounding B4C powder, additive and a binder. Thus by suppressing diffusing B from the LaB6 cathode, in the B4C, corrosion of the burned unit or sintered unit and consuming LaB6 in a surface except the electron emitting surface are reduced. As a result, extending of a life of an electron gun is attained.
