To provide an electronic block system and its method which do not require a driver's operation of an on-vehicle equipment in ensuring blocking.

When the departure time of a train comes, a running display device 1 transmits departure information (including an identification signal of the train) to an on-vehicle equipment 4 in the train via a station device 2. The on-vehicle equipment 4 receives the departure information and transmits a departure request to the station device 2 only when the identification signal of the train coincides with an identification signal of the train owned by the device 2 itself. Upon receipt of the departure request, the station device 2 ensures blocking by making reference to a next station which is an arrival station of the train and displays present indication for departure on a departure signal (not shown in the drawing) in the site. The driver confirms the present indication for departure and makes the train start.
