To determine a proper correction rate by a gain and shutter speed when correcting F-value dependent characteristics of an imaging element.
An electronic camera includes: an imaging element 3 whose sensitivity characteristics vary depending on the F-value of an imaging optical system 1; temperature detection means 7 that detects the temperature of the imaging element 3; diaphragm setting means 10 that sets diaphragm of the imaging optical system 1; speed setting means 10 that sets shutter speed; sensitivity setting means 10 that sets ISO sensitivity; and correction means 10 that corrects sensitivity characteristics of the imaging element 3 according to the F-value of the imaging element 3 by the shutter speed and a gain to the output signal of the imaging element 3. The correction means 10 determines the correction rate of the sensitivity characteristics by the gain and shutter speed based on any one or a plurality of the shutter speed, ISO sensitivity, and temperature.
