To provide a means of making shading corrections with higher precision according to photographic conditions.
An electronic camera has an imaging device, a light shielding unit, a sensitivity adjusting unit, and a control unit. The imaging device takes a subject image through photoelectric conversion. The light shielding unit performs switching between a light non-shielding state wherein luminous flux from a subject reaches the imaging device and a light shielding state wherein the imaging device is shielded from the luminous flux. The sensitivity adjusting unit changes a setting of imaging sensitivity associated with the imaging device. When receiving a photography instruction while the imaging sensitivity is higher than a threshold, the control unit generates data of a main image taken in the light non-shielding state and data of a black image taken in the light shielding state.
