To provide an electronic camera capable of attaining notification on a variety of situations which are newly needed such as notification on communications to external electronic apparatuses without incurring a cost- pushing.

In a camera, a system controller 27 checks whether a USB cable is connected or not when a power switch 6 is depressed, and if not connected, an imaging and reproducing mode is set. If connected, the controller 27 checks whether an OK menu button 8 is depressed or not, and if depressed, a control mode is set and if not depressed, a storage mode is set. Then, in the imaging and reproducing mode, a strobe LED 10a and an auto-focus LED 10b are controlled to be lit for notifying on an imaging, and in the control or storage mode, the LED 10a and the LED 10b are controlled to be lit for notifying on the communications.
