An image sensor 18 repeatedly creates a subject field image having a specified zooming magnification. A CPU 40 repeatedly determines if a registered color image exists in the subject field image created by the image sensor 18, calculates a target zooming magnification suitable for a size of the registered color image corresponding to a positively determined result to vary the magnitude of the specified zooming magnification in aiming at the calculated target zooming magnification. However, if the determined result about presence or absence of the registered color image is updated from the positive result to the negative result, the CPU 40 suppresses the running magnification changing process.
