PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera which has the merit of being able to properly switch the mode to the reproducing mode by performing simple operation independently of the open/close state of a lens protection cover.
SOLUTION: This electronic camera is provided with an operation means 19 including a reproducing button 20 added to the camera main body, a lens protection cover 1 which is so provided that it can be moved between the open position where it opens the front of a photographic lens 10a and the close position where it closes the front of the lens 10a, a mode switching means 24 which sets the photographing mode in the case of the cover 1 in the open position and sets the non-photographing mode in the case of the cover 1 on the close position, a first control means 17a which switches the photographing mode to the reproducing mode for reproducing and display of a picture signal at the time of A click operation of the reproducing button 20 in the photographing mode, and a second control means 17b which alternately selects the reproducing mode and the power stop mode at each time of B click operation of the reproducing button 20 in the non-photographing mode.
