To allow a user of an electronic circuit breaker to recognize a circuit failure at a processing unit for processing electrical connection information, when the processing unit is tripped because of the failure and to prevent the circuit breaker from being turned on.
The electronic circuit breaker 1 includes a tripping unit 12 with a handle 12a for turning an electric path 2 on and off, a processing unit 15 which outputs a trip signal, a lock bar for locking the operation of the handle 12a, and a monitoring unit 17 for monitoring the processing unit 15. The lock bar is biased toward the handle 12a. The monitoring unit 17 moves the handle 12a to a trip position when detecting a circuit failure at the processing unit 15, and the lock bar moves to a first position where it locks the movement of the handle 12a to an on position to lock the handle 12a. In this way the user can recognize the occurrence of the circuit failure, reducing the risk that the electronic circuit breaker 1 is mistakenly turned on while there is a circuit failure at the processing unit 15.
