Abstract:
To provide a motor drive circuit capable of decelerating rotation of an electric motor, e.g., an electric motor coupled with a fan, when power of the electric motor and the motor drive circuit for rotating the electric motor in normal operation is turned off, or when they malfunction.SOLUTION: A motor drive circuit 600 includes multiple driver circuits, a capacitor 640, and a power loss brake control circuit 602. In brake operation mode, a high side transistor is turned off, and the motor drive circuit functions to generate at least one pulse signal having at least two state transitions when power supply voltage is less than a threshold level voltage. At least one ON state of a low side transistor brings about a brake operation mode during ON state, and at least two state transitions bring about step-up operation so that the capacitor voltage becomes a boost voltage higher than a voltage achieved without the at least two state transitions.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
