PURPOSE: To prevent a developing device or a cleaning device in the 1st unit from being inclined by constituting a copying machine body of two units and separating the 1st unit from the 2nd unit while keeping the parallel state of both the units.

CONSTITUTION: The copying machine body 1 is divided into the 1st upper units 1a and the 2nd lower unit 1b. When hooks 27 of locking devices 26 on both the end parts of the front face of the body 1 are disengaged from pins 28, the body 1 is automatically pushed up by the push-up force of a supporting device 21 and jammed paper P or the like can be removed. When the unit 1a is pushed down and the hooks 27 are engaged with the pins 28, copy enabled status can be obtained. The device 21 is constituted of a cylinder 22, a guide rod 23, a compression spring 25 and so on. Since the unit 1a can be separated from the unit 1b while keeping the parallel state of both the units, the developing device 6 or the cleaning device 9 in the unit 1 can be prevented from being inclined at the time of said separation.
