To provide an electronic device which can suppress electric power consumption without damaging convenience of a user at start when a communication means is connected to an external device.

The electronic device includes: a plurality of devices; the communication means connected to the external device to perform data communications and receiving supply of electric power; a detection means detecting connection to the external device by the communication means; an electric power supply control means controlling electric power supply to the plurality of devices; and a plurality of starting modes in which targets of the electric power supply to the plurality of devices by the electric power supply control means are different. When the detection means detects that the communication means is connected to the external device, based on a starting mode selected from the plurality of starting modes, the electric power supply control means controls the electric power supply to the plurality of devices.
