Abstract:

To automatically adjust an output signal amplitude stably so that an input signal amplitude is made to stay within a serial ATA interface standard regardless of the cable length of a serial ATA bus.

A peak detection part 131 detects the amplitude for a serial data signal (input signal amplitude) inputted to a signal input-output part 121 via an SATA bus 30. A mean value calculation part 132 calculates the mean value resulting from the detection for the input signal amplitude detection within a designated period of time with the peak detection part 131. A comparison part 134 compares the calculated mean value with an expected value for the input signal amplitude decided by the standard value for the input signal amplitude of the serial ATA interface. An output signal amplitude adjustment part 135 adjusts the amplitude with the serial data signal outputted from the signal input-output part 121, in accordance with the above result of the comparison, so that the amplitude for the signal becomes the above expected value when the serial data signal outputted from the signal input-output part 121 is input to another device via the SATA bus 30.
