To eliminate troublesome operations in newly registering identification information and editing registered content, and to enhance the usability of an electronic device that uses a noncontact communication device.
In a navigation apparatus, an audio reproduction apparatus or the like, when a reading part reads a card ID from a noncontact communication device such as an IC card, the apparatus performs a registration process (F204) for registering a new user's identification information according to the registration status of the card ID and its operating condition at that time and a process (F208) for editing registered identification information.
