An electronic clock 10 is constructed by adding an AND circuit 12 for outputting a logical product signal of serial data for checking outputted from the serial output terminal sout of a CPU 11 and a reference signal for adjustment outputted from a reference signal output terminal fout and an OR circuit 13 for outputting a logical sum signal of a sound signal notification signal outputted from an output terminal buzzer for buzzer and the logical product signal outputted by the AND circuit 12 to a driver 15 to the circuit of the electronic clock having a general alarm function provided with a CPU 11 having a clock function and a serial interface function. Thus, the electronic clock 10 can use the reference signal for adjustment as a carrier and a buzzer 14 as a data transmitting means and perform a data communication with a simple circuit configuration.
