To prevent malfunction of a switch without materializing a large-sized outer shape and a complex internal structure, in a portable electronic device.
The button 16 for the power supply of a digital camera comprises an operation member 30 pressed against by a user, a tact switch 31 detecting the pressing operation of the operation member 30, and a plate-like spring 32 supporting the operation member 30. The operation member 30 moves in between a first position, partially exposing from an opening 34a, formed on a case 34 and a second position contacting a pin 30a to the tact switch 31. This plate-like spring 32 is formed of a bimetal and attached with a heater 36; and when the spring 32 is heated by the heater 36, it is deformed into a curved form directed toward the inner side of the camera body and supports the operation member 30, at a third position which is unexposed to the outside and incontacts the tact switch 31.
