This electronic endoscope system 1 is provided with an insertion hole 27 for directing a tip part 10a of an electronic endoscope 10 onto the surface of a first rotating shutter 22 for turning on and of ultraviolet light flux. The surface of the first rotating shutter 22 is provided with a white light reflecting part 22d for reflecting white light at specific reflectance, and a fluorescent luminous part 22e for lighting at specified fluorescent intensity when excited by ultraviolet light, in a region irradiated with white light and ultraviolet light emitted from the tip part 10a in the case the tip part 10a is inserted in the insertion hole 27. An image signal processing circuit 32 sets an amplification factor from each image signal generated when receiving reflected light and fluorescent light from the white light reflecting part 2d and fluorescent luminous part 22e, and amplifies each image signal at the set amplification factor.
