PURPOSE: To perform secondary picture display of accurate hue, by mounting a means for forming image data for a real time image by sampling and extracting each component of the color difference data contained in the image data of a brightness/color difference signal when freeze indication is issued.

CONSTITUTION: When secondary picture display is performed under freeze indication, the contents of image memories 1, 2 are read at the frequency of one pixel clock twofold usual display and brightness signal data (Y-data) is outputted by fixing a switch circuit 5 on one side while color difference data (R-Y data, B-Y data ) are outputted after latched by one pixel clock. The brightness signal data and color difference data successively outputted from a latch circuit 5 by this method are converted to analogue data by a D/A converter 10 to be demodulated to a brightness/color difference signal and further converted to an RGB signal on the basis of the demodulated brightness/color difference signal to be added to a TV monitor and the secondary picture display of a real time image is performed on the display picture of the TV monitor along with a freeze image.
