To provide an electronic governor device for a general-purpose internal combustion engine capable of opening and closing a choke valve by an actuator, eliminating loss in time until the choke valve is fully closed at start time of the engine, and improving start property of the engine.

This electronic governor device for the general-purpose internal combustion engine is provided with the choke valve arranged in an intake passage and the actuator for driving the choke valve. Operation of the actuator is controlled to close the choke valve fully when the internal combustion engine is stopped (when a main switch is turned off) (S24, S26).
